Training on Democracy and Human Rights within student activism program "VOICE TO STUDENTS"

The student activism program "VOICE TO STUDENTS" started with training on democracy and human rights. This is the first training within the project "United we reach more - Voice to Students, Support to workers!". It was held in hotel Four Points by Sheraton, Kolašin, from 12 to 14 October.

  Twenty five students attended the training, in order to be educated and trained to participate and effectively influence decision-making process and public policies that address Roma issues, student and worker rights, as well as other economic, social and minority rights. The aim of this training is to provide group of young activists with advanced knowledge on concepts of active citizen, human rights and democracy, as well as monitoring, with a particular emphasis on their implementation in practise.

Three-day tailored training was held by Executive director of Center for Civic Education Daliborka Uljarević, Executive director of Media Association of South-East Europe Vuk Maraš and Deputy Ombudsman of Montenegro Siniša Bjeković. Trainers prepared a program which, apart from  already mentioned topics, included issues of political system of Montenegro, power structures, the international and national legislation  for human rights protection,  international national and local institutional system, methods and types of action.

Trainers justified the reputation they enjoyed, through their expertise and dedication, and in a quality way, they provided knowledge about current topics in training, and enabled everyone to participate actively in all stages of training. The participants believe that the entire training was very important,  that it promotes the adoption and practical application of theoretical part, and that acquired knowledge can be used for further creation of  public policies, for better future of RE population. Considering that this is the first training within the project, following planned activities will include trainings on  Montenegrin political system, public relations and relevant aspects of  public appearance, as well as simulation of parliamentary debates.
