Institutional Working meeting organized in Herceg Novi and Bar

On June 11, 2020, members of the ROMACTED team organized a meeting on the premises of the Municipality of Herceg Novi with representatives of local self-government, Ranka Suberic, associate for achieving social rights of citizens and Tamara Vujovic, advisor of the Municipality Mayor. The reason for the meeting was the work on the final version of the Local Action Plan (LAP) for the integration of the Roma population, which should be adopted on one of the next sessions of the local parliament.


Also, members of the ROMACTED team attended a meeting of the LAP Monitoring Working Group for Roma Community Integration in Bar on June 16, 2020, to discuss LAP implementation models, measures, and activities for this year. In addition to the ROMACTED team, the meeting was attended by: Naser Kraja, Independent Advisor for Human and Minority Rights and Freedoms in the Municipality of Bar, Adis Martinovic, an epidemiologist at the Health Center in Bar, Milica Planinic, Independent Advisor to the Employment Agency in Bar and Marina Radevic, professor at the elementary school "Blazo Jokov Orlandic".

Local authorities have a key role in implementing measures to improve the position of Roma in priority areas of life, such as education, employment, adequate housing and access to health and social care, as well as obtaining personal documents, promoting intercultural dialogue and protecting against discrimination, therefore the adoption and adequate implementation of this document is of great importance for the successful integration of the Roma community at the local level.
